Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer.
More than 11,000 men die from prostate cancer in the UK each year – that’s one man every 45 minutes. However, we’re confident that with the right funding, we can dramatically reduce deaths and make it a disease the next generation need not fear. Our goal is to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support.
A screening programme is imperative in order to catch more prostate cancers early and save more lives. We are committed to finding the tools needed to make this a reality, as well as finding more effective and personalised treatments for advanced disease.
In the meantime, being aware of his risk is a man’s greatest defence against prostate cancer. Men over 50, black men and men with a family history of prostate cancer are at higher risk and should speak to their GP. Our Specialist Nurses are available to support men living with prostate cancer or with concerns about the disease on 0800 074 8383. We want to encourage men to be aware of their health so they can be diagnosed early and survive longer.
