We are pleased to announce that Global’s Make Some Noise charity is TheGivingMachine’s featured cause for March.

This means all windfall donations made by givers that do not log on to their account when shopping via TheGivingMachine will go to Global’s Make Some Noise.

Global’s Make Some Noise gives a voice to small projects supporting disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Global’s Make Some Noise supports small but brilliant charities across the UK, which help youngsters and their families living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity. These charities struggle to get heard, so, they unite 8 of the biggest radio stations in the UK and their listeners, to give them a voice and raise much-needed funds to support their vital work. By joining Global to make some noise, you can help small charities have a big impact.

Who they help

Each year they award grants to specially selected projects up and down the country, which provide vital support for youngsters and their families living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity. These grants may fund activities such as workshops for teenagers with cancer, rehabilitation for children with brain tumors or support for young carers. But they don’t stop there.

Whilst delivering life-changing work in their communities, these projects are often small, operating on a shoestring, or tackling an issue that’s not well understood. They find it hard to get heard, so, Global give them a voice and help raise awareness via their radio stations and websites. By making more people aware of the brilliant work they do, Global hopes this will lead to a brighter future for each of the causes.

They also lend our expertise through a series of exclusive training sessions in areas such as digital, sales and marketing. So, in the future, the projects can make more noise themselves. Global doesn’t just give a hand out, they aim to give a hand up as well.

Global’s Make Some Noise is the newest chapter in Global’s long history of uniting its listeners and clients, to help improve the lives of children and young people.

For almost 40 years Global has been raising money through initiatives including Help a Capital Child, Have a Heart and the Classic FM Foundation. During that time, they’ve raised a staggering £35 million and helped more than 3 million children and their families. They are now uniting all their stations and listeners behind Global’s Make Some Noise to raise even more money for those who need it most.

In 1975, Capital FM’s charity Help a London Child was established by the late Sir Richard Attenborough, to help disadvantaged young people in the capital. He once said: “Disadvantaged children don’t have less imagination, just less opportunity to express it.

As Capital grew into a national network, its charity went national too, becoming Help a Capital Child. It continued to support grassroots projects in London, while also fundraising for national children’s cancer charities – Teenage Cancer Trust, CLIC Sargent and The JLS Foundation.

Have a Heart was created in 2009, as the charity of the Heart network of radio stations. Together with their listeners and clients, they raised over £3.4 million pounds, making a real difference to the lives of thousands of children and their families.

The Classic FM Foundation was established in 2008, raising money to bring the healing power of music to sick and disadvantaged children across the UK.

Global are incredibly proud of these charities – and are excited to build on their legacy and bring them together in making even more noise than ever before.
