Music therapy is the clinical use of music to make direct contact with the emotions of children and adults.

Shrewsbury Music Therapy Unit caters for clients from Shropshire and the Border Counties, with learning and physical difficulties. The music therapist has been highly trained to use the language of music to communicate, enabling children and adults to resolve inner tensions and to develop their potential.

As well as addressing emotional needs and patterns of behaviour, the therapist aims to develop communication skills and stimulate the creative part of the brain which research shows is least likely to be impaired. During Covid19 lockdown, music therapy has continued for most clients by using internet platforms such as Zoom, Skype or Facetime. Sadly, fundraising – which goes towards subsidising therapy rates has not been possible, so TheGivingMachine contributions are really important right now.

As a Registered Charity with us here at TheGivingMachine, you can support The Shrewsbury Music Therapy Unit and Trust Fund in generating free donations for their excellent work with children and adults with learning and physical disabilities. In addition, you can support them via our GivingLottery too.
